When using more than 0.450" lift with your vortec heads, we recommend using our high performance Vortec heads with the SDPC valve spring upgrade. After machining the valve guides for added clearance bewteen the retainer and the valve seal, we install our high performance Z28 valve springs with a matching HD retainer. This produces a high reving cylinder head that can handle up to 0.525" lift for hydraulic lifter camshaft applications. The great flow characteristics of the Vortec heads with high performance valve springs is the perfect way to top off your new street/strip engine.

Check out the blown small block in the june 2006 issue of car craft - that motor made 450HP for under $4000 with these heads, and i'm building one just like it.
