This small-block V-8 dreams big, displacing big-block cubic inches at 7.0 Liters (427 cubic inches) and big-block power at 505 hp at 6300 rpm. It also benches 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. GM is the first manufacturer to certify its horsepower and torque rating using the new Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test procedure J2723.

Helping to create its high power and high revving capability are details such as cylinder heads with computer numerical control (CNC) intake and exhaust ports and combustion chambers - which creates ports with surgical accuracy for maximum power production. In addition, the intake valves and connecting rods are made out of high-strength lightweight titanium.

I need one really bad for my Macsratz.com chassis project! Old school is cool but, being an older man I have to say that we ran the best we could afford or that was available. I am so impressed with GM's efforts here!!

    THE KING! September 22, 2007
I purchased this engine for a change in direction for my hot rod.I thought that I would try a LS engine instead of the old standard 350/383 or big block. All I can say is WOW! I can say that this engine PULLS HARD!! and is the absolute best buy out there for any project. I was not totally convinced that this would be a good choice but after driving this torque monster for over 6 months all I can tell anybody who has any doubts..don't! It will blow your mind! So easy to work on,tune and install I will never go back to a reg engine. We going to upgrade with a single turbo and really get things interesting. Way to go GM!! Awesome!

My LS1 in my 99' Z28 had high mileage so i had to replace the engine, and i went with the LS7, and man that motor is crazy, it is pure power and sounds a hell of a lot better, and when you race a mustang or some LT1 or LS1 camaro down the highway they will not know what hit them!
